A. Some players feel that snipers don't benefit the team. And some others feel differently. If you squad with me and my corpmates, we accept you. As long as you do your job effectively, I don't see any problems with it. My corpmate and I ran some squads with just us two (its was an early morning match, hardly any of the corp was on) and we did extremely well together. Him, sniping and me assaulting.
B. Also another one that depends on the people you play with. With some, mics are absolutely mandatory. With others, they don't care. I generally like my corpmates to be mic'd up or at least be able to hear comms. We are not sticklers about mics because we know not everyone has one or not everyone can talk freely on the mic. So it depends on who you squad with.
C. I have not read anything like that.
But you're right, mic'ing up and squading up with other players definitely adds a new dimension to the game. My advice would be to learn comm speak. Things such as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta and Echo. Dropship on approach. Tank west of the objective. Things of that nature. Comms are a great tool for you and your squadmates to help you adapt to an ever changing battlefield.
Also, if you can, its best to have a secondary role you're skilled in. Most battles require tow different classes at your disposal just in case of situational changes.
Hope my answers helped and maybe we squad up sometime. o7

As for your question Lee about mobile/stationary, I've played both styles depending on the situation. Like you said, in Domination matches I usually find a good vantage point and help with suppression and picking off people trying to charge the point. In skirmish, I move around a lot more and try to assist with different areas depending on the situation and try to stay flexible. As to the mic situation, that was what I figured for pub battles so that isn't too surprising. That is what mute is for if I need it.
Trenix: Yeah, the 2 person crew is one example of what I could see working really well as long as people are communicating and helping each other out. As to your additional points, I was in the Army for 10 years so basic info/phonetic alphabet/etc is second nature to me so I won't have any major issues with the verbiage. As to the second point, I'm going to ask for some guidance because, as I said, I've played Sniper almost exclusively. As for a secondary skill set, do you have any specific suggestions? Just to give you some background info that may be helpful, right now I'm running a lvl 5 Caldari Logistics suit and have level 5 sniper rifle/light weapons skills plus some bumps for Sniper rifles (proficiency, ammo capacity, etc.). I still have about 620,000 SP just sitting there unused because I wasn't sure what to use it in (assault rifle/laser/rail/ etc. Like I said, I'm just not really sure where to go? I'm definitely armored up and have some additional mods. I'm just not sure what kind of weapon system to look at as a good compliment.
Army? o7 for your service. So you're already ahead of the game. That's great. Maybe you can fill me in on some things I need to know.
It all depends on your playstyle. Do you like supporting your team? Or you more of a frontline guy? Does low scan profile and sneaking around enemy flank interest you? Or do you prefer Arnold Schwarneggar commando style? It's all about what's comfortable for you and what playstyle will showcase your best skills on the battlefield.
I've known snipers to do scouts, since they are almost hand in hand with playstyles. Right now, there are a several selections to choose from. Some are saying Caldari is better while others says Minmatar better.
But let me first explain the races so you know how they play. Caldari is all about shields and rail tech. Gallente are all armor and about blaster tech. Amarr are the laser/plasma guys and about armor. Minmatar are speedy and dual tanks (armor/shield).
I am currently spec'd into Caldari Sentinel (Heavy..aka CalSen). I can carry a HMG and a FG. I'm interested in going into the scout role myself. I like Caldari tech, so I'm going for the CalSco (Caldari Scout). I'm actually learning about the scout now. I'm going to grab some more information on what works best for them from guys in our corp and/or alliance just to make sure.
So again, it depends on what you wish to look for. If the battle situation keeps you from sniping, how would you like to fight on field? That's how I was able to gauge what works best for me. If sniping works for you now, by all means, stick with it. Anything you're good at will get you more SP than something you're experimenting with. Plus, CCP might do some changes to the suits, since 1.8 has arrived. Heavies are already in talks to receive some 20 percent nerf.
Also you can join the comms TSF PUB. Those guys are from my alliance and they will gladly help you. The comms existence is to aid mercs. Just say Trenix from OUKH sent you.
We can figure that all out when we squad up. I'll have some free time thursday night, if you're on. I might be on Wednesday but I'm not sure. I play in the eastern time zone.
